Im starting to have a problem with my hands being slippery while doing bench press..what does everyone use? powder? gloves? straps?

Chalk.

Good old gym chalk. You can get it from www.prowriststraps.com a board sponsor. I think there is even a liquid one that you can buy. That way you don't get bitched out for using chalk in the gym.

I love chalk....

I got climbing chalk because I sweat alot and it has some kinda drying agents in it to help out

ill ask tomorrow if chalk is allowed..whats another alternative?

gloves or wraps pretty much....

One day i forgot my chalk i used paper towels...lol...it kinda worked...but i wouldnt advise it for everyday use

Yea I use chalk for better bench press grip. But for overall better grip strength, there are tons of things you can do. PM me for some info

im sure my grip is fine..i think its the fact that people with greezy hands use the same bar.

I never used wraps before..i thought they were just used for deadlifts?

They can be used for a number of exercises, shrugs, lat pulldowns etc. But yea Id say they are most common with deads

gloves definately helped me with grip on everything, but they only seemed to last a month or two before they had holes in them and I needed a new pair lol. Never tried chalk..Im sure most gyms would bitch about it. If they caught you anyway lol

amen brother. my gloves right now look like i stole them off a homeless guy, hell actually a homeless guy wouldnt even wear these, might hurt his image. and i havent even had them that long. they are(were) good valeos too

ive never seen chalk used at my gym so im guessing its not allowed. if chalk was allowed dont you think they would provide it too?

dude ... keep it in a ziplock bag in your gym bag ... put your hands in, rub them together, take them out and close the bag ... no one will know.

Like I said, there is a liquid chalk that you squirt on your hands. When it dry's it leaves the chalk on your hands without all of the dust floating around. It's the chalk dust that pisses the gym owners off because it's tough to clean it up.

Being that I generally work out at home I don't have this problem but have you tried cleaning the bar?

I would imagine that it is often completely slimed up with other peoples fecal matter and sweat. (just saying).

A light chalk on a clean bar and nothing is going to slip.
