Yes another acne thread but from another angle

I still question if it's the poor quality of dairy we have now.

What would "poor quality dairy" mean? Denatured, addition of toxins, what?
I don't think the acne has anything to do with poor quality, possibly the opposite.

What percentage of people have issues with dairy? It seems like a trendy thing now days and no coincidence we now see almond milk, coconut milk, etc on shelves being marketed as the thing. Milk, almond milk, yogurt, whey, never had any issue with dairy products love them all. I wonder if people in poor countries who are just happy to have food have issues. When I grew up dairy was considered a food group and we drank milk proudly. I remember the milk mustache commercials lol

Most humans are lactose intolerant to some degree. We're the only animal that continues to drink milk after we've been weaned.

They are happy to give things like Aldactone and Accutane out like candy, I wouldn't touch that crap if I was a teenager.
Ain’t nothing wrong with Accutane as long as you take it accordingly and also follow the protocols. That stuff cleared me of breakouts PERMANENTLY! Only side effect that was irritating was the cracked lips. But other than that it’s hands down the best drug for cystic acne!!!! Nothing comes close. If anyone I know that is struggling with cystic acne I make sure they know about Accutane.

I remember when I first walked into a gnc in high school, I looked at the stuff on the shelf and looked at it like I looked at AAS now (actually more powerful as I think proper training and diet are as important as AAS now).

I was so amazed by the canisters of protein, creatine, and scared at the same time. Now a days when I walk by GNC in the mall I just roll my eyes lol.

I feel like now days the hippies probably use the plant based shakes, picture a canister with brown, green, white, colors of the earth. While guys like us use the optimum/dymatize, canisters that are bright/bold colors marketed to look hardcore.
It used to be soy protein powder that was sold from bulk bins, almost every grocery store carried it, it was with the bulk granola and similar. I still remember the smell that stuff has lol

I have similar memories of GNC :D

Yep, all you have to do is stop consuming dairy for a while and you will stop making the enzyme lactase and become fully lactose intolerant. You can reintroduce lactose slowly and reverse the process as well.

So this would indicate that people with problems stopped it at some point? Id say its pretty obvious that most tolerate it just fine as evidence by all the milk, cheese, ice cream we see at grocery stores. I know growing up every kid ate ice cream, we couldn't eat enough lol. We were encouraged to drink milk. I hope they aren't teaching kids now that milk is bad and to stay away lol. Now a days everyone is addicted to soda and energy drinks.

I wonder how they are still in business with the ridiculous prices they charge, you would think amazon, Walmart, vitamin shoppe would put them out of business. id bet they have less stores now then back in the early 2000's when I first noticed GNC.

Exactly, most people have created their own lactose intolerance by not consuming it enough.

That makes sense. I wonder if people do this with other foods too. Ive came across co workers who claim they can't digest meat and that fake meat is better for them lol

The way I see it is, nothing you don't eat on a semi-regular basis digest well, with some exceptions. I think this is often a big problem with many studies done on things like protein consumption and diet, they don't account for what the person being studied is used to eating.

Once I was eating 6 egg whites (and 3 whole eggs) per day and I increased it to 7 whites, had gas for a few days, then it stopped. A few weeks later I increased it to 8, I had gas again for a day or two, then got used to it and it went away. Even small changes take time to adapt to.

Some people do seem to digest certain foods easier than other people though, regardless of how much or frequently they eat them.

And milk is different because it makes sense we stop making lactase when we stop nursing since it's no longer needed. We are basically keeping part of our enzyme production in an infant state by milking animals and consuming it, hilarious.

Good points, I am definitely an advocate of milk and dairy myself. I think alot of people in general have OCD and freak out over a little gas and start taking things out of their diet and stress over it. Everyone farts, everyone gets gas. If someone never got gas then I'd think there was something wrong with them. I think in general people micromanage their food intake so much and focus on gas and digestion to the detriment of having a balanced nutritious diet. Maybe it all stated with Atkins "carbs are evil" then it was "saturated fat is evil" then "don't eat gluten.". We act as if our stomach is so fragile and we need to baby and protect it.

More processed , maybe not cultured. Regular milk vs raw for example. I mean, I tend to do fine with regular old cottage cheese, but other dairy sources can cause me issues. Dairy is just weird for most people these days. Never noticed acne from dairy, though

yeah the way I look at it, some days we have gas, some days we have diarrhea, some days we are constipated. it isn't until recently people started thinking something was seriously wrong with them and they needed a "cure". People eliminating quality foods and nutritients from their diet due to gas etc. I feel like in the 2,000s we started to see more books and fad diets, organic foods, gras fed foods, free range etc... Atkins was pushed more, paleo, gluten free stuff came about, then all of a sudden people started to worry and feel something was wrong with them while other people became rich of all this distress. A couple weeks ago I was feeling bloated, this week It was a little runny. My food choices and diet didn't change, its just life, shit happens lol.

Thanks everybody, there is ample evidence that dairy and whey protein can cause problems in some people, im just trying to eliminate possible triggers that may cause acne.

I had acne when i was young, made me antisocial, had low confidence, tried to hide my self wearing hats, i dont want my son to go through that tbh

I was thinking alot abut why old time bodybuilders had little acne, my only guess would be vince gironda advocating shit loads of liver tabs, there full of vitamins and good stuff, these liver tabs helped prevent acne, imo

I switched my last meal from whey isolate to milk protein isolate a while back, I've been farting so much it's unbelievable, wife is getting so upset when I wake her up, they are LOUD too lol.

But yeah I agree gas is only a small part of digestion.

Never thought of it that way. We are bombarded with "gurus" on youtube telling us something is wrong too , or were unhealthy for having normal bodily functions...... Then promoting their supplements, remedies, etc. Maybe people need to stop focusing so much on these things and focus on something else?

I know when I first started I ate tons of beans and oats as my carb sources in college, then at my internship id rip farts all day (all the guys did) but I won. People knew I was able to because I ate all those beans and oats, they just give you gas. Now a days they would probably tell me to go see a specialist.
