Help on capping powders?
Well I'm have some powders I'd like to cap. I want to make each cap 25mgs each and I'm not sure what I need. I plan on getting a balance beem scale that measures to the 1/20 th of a g. And I'm going to get a cap-m-kwik kit but I'm not sure if I want to go with size 0 or 00? Well I'd appreciate if anybody with some experience in this could tell me if I'm forgeting something or what size caps I should go with.

I cap shit "all" the time. 25mg is "not much" at all. A #1 sized capsule, which is smaller than #0, would probably be too large, unless the material you are capping is "extremely" powdery/light.
I've gotten both products at http://www.developed.net/scale.htm for the balance beam scale and http://www.developed.net/capsule.htm for empty capsules and Cap-M-Quik.

Hey xcel, I looked at the cap-m-kwik capsule filler at the site and I don't quite understand how I know how much I'm putting in each cap. It looks like you just scrap the powder in and I don't see how I'll know when their is 25mgs in each cap.

Each material that you cap has a different weight for the same volume. Example: 1cc of sand weighs more than 1cc of talcum powder.
Here's how I fill caps: Since I cap ALL KINDS of material, I keep a selection of ALL the fillers, tampers, as well as an Accura scale. Place an empty capsule on the scale, then "balance" the scale to "0" with the capsule in place (this way, when you weigh a filled capsule you will know the weight of its contents).
Place that capsule in the Cap-M-Quik filler (one capsule only) the fill it normally (as you would if there were 50 capsules in the filler). Remove it, cap it, and weigh it. This filled capsule will be the "representative weight" for all capsules filled that way.
If the capsule is a little light, repeat this method but use a Tamper to get more material into capsule (I tamp in more material two times). If the tamped capsule does not weigh enough, go to the next larger sized capsule.
Of course, if the filled capsule weighs too much, go to a smaller capsule. Sometimes you need to place an amount into a capsule that is "less than" the capsule will hold, such as js' 25 mg. I had a similar experience capping 200mg of ALA. An untamped "1" sized capsule weighed too much. What I used was a microscoop and weighed out 3 "level" microscoops equaled 200mg. The 000 capsules (largest available, versus 1, which is smallest available) made it easy to "manually" fill the capsules.
