i was hospitalized for renal failure!

No offense to the OP, but if he has a history of abusing recs, than this post is pretty much irrelevant, IMO.

his DOCTOR, the guy that spent 10+ years getting educated in the field, not some guys on a bodybuilder board, didn't think it was from the AAS use.

This kidney scare thing is getting out of hand, IMO.

Yes please do give more information..what were your symptoms..what dosages and what AAS you abuse the most? Were you an alcohol drinker also?

look for something else you enjoy doing and try and focus the attention towards that. anabolics is not where its at for you my friend. its gonna kill you at this rate bro.

And do you know why the DR didnt think it was from AAS abuse? Can you guess? The " bodybuilders on the bodybuilding board" to be afraid of is YOU.

This may sound stupid but I dont know the answer so I am asking. Can injectables destroy your kidneys too? Or is it mainly orals?

Think about it from a protein synthesis standpoint. Your kidneys have to filter all of that protein. The AAS increases protein synthesis, we eat even more, sometimes unthinkable amounts, to make the greatest gains. A lot of stress on the kidneys.

High blood pressure is another contributing factor to the destruction of the kidneys. Most of us experience elevated BP on AAS, whether it be from the compound itself or water retention. I know I experience this.

Don't let yourselves get too worked up over this shit. I am curious however, to see his cycling history and what exactly he was using when this problem finally got serious.

Well, if you didn't tell your doctor that you were on high doses of AAS, then of course he is going to try and attribute the source of your acute renal failure to something else. Just out of curiosity, what has your BP been running of late? Were you running tren?

Yeah this is another funny thing about doctors, and goes to show how little they know about anabolic steroids in general. Most of them don't deal with patients using these types of drugs on a daily basis, especially your GPs. If you are experiencing any kind of issues that could REMOTELY be linked to AAS use, and you tell your Doc you are on gear, I'll bet 99% of the time they are gonna get lightbulbs going off in their head and immediately tell you its because of the steroids. Why? Cause it's an easy thing to point the finger at.

Yes, some physicians may jump the gun and fixate on the steroids. However, given that he was evaluated in the ED and subsequently was managed by a nephrologist as an inpatient, I would recommend that he inform the nephrologist of his AAS use. The nephrologist isn't going to immediately assume it is AAS--he is going to first determine if the acute renal failure is: pre-renal, post-renal, or renal. If it is truly renal and there are indications of acute tubular necrosis or other signs of kidney "cell death," then he would have to rule out all potential toxins. If it is due to a significantly elevated BP, then he would have to rule this out, too. I don't know the extent/magnitude of the OP's renal failure, but given that he spent 5 days in the hospital, that suggests that it was rather severe. Again, without any details or additional info, it is difficult to speculate. In the end, it probably would have been best to disclose this info to the physician if his health is his primary concern.

Glad you figured out what the Dr's couldn't.

Renal failure or kidney failure (formerly called renal insufficiency) describes a medical condition in which the kidneys fail to adequately filter toxins and waste products from the blood. The two forms are acute (acute kidney injury) and chronic (chronic kidney disease); a number of other diseases or health problems may cause either form of renal failure to occur.

Maybe he should go to a renal specialists before he draws conculsions. Think I would trust that more.

I agree with your post.

Somebody that knows a thing or two ;)

Sorry, misread that he didn't tell the doc, and that is why the doc didn't think it was the AAS.

And for the record, I am not one to be afraid of on the board. You'll never hear me supporting high doses or brushing things off that could harm your health.
Are we going to completely overlook that this guy abused recs in the past?
