Massachusetts seeks tougher AAS laws

FYI to our friends in Massachusetts:

Citing increased use among high schoolers, the Massachusetts Senate has approved a bill to upgrade anabolic steroids from Class E controlled substances to Class C substances. The effect on first-time personal users is to double the potential imprisonment term from six months to one year, and to make inapplicable a provision presuming probation. Here's what the State House News Service had to say about it:

Don't just blame Massachusetts. In Colorado, for example, a bizarre distinction makes “using” juice a misdemeanor but “possessing” it a felony! In Florida and Georgia, simple possession of any amount is a felony with up to five years imprisonment, and in Alabama it’s a felony with up to ten years in prison! In Louisiana, you can face imprisonment with hard labor for a first offense of mere personal use possession! Sure, these are maximum penalties, but DAMN! Other states are also really screwed up, too, particularly since many states define "anabolic steroids" in different ways from the Feds. For those "interested" in this topic, LEGAL MUSCLE provides a simple review of each and every state's steroid laws, and a convenient chart comparing personal use laws.

Also, anyone interested in checking out the congressional history of how AAS came to become controlled will find a lively chapter of LEGAL MUSCLE directly on point. I guarantee it will make you furious!!!
