Is there anyone here that competes who does ZERO re-feed meals during a 16 week contest prep? I'm at week 10 of no cheating and I'm dying for a huge meal.

Re-feed?

For my last contest, ate 8x/day for 100 days with exactly 0 cheat meals. Also logged every meal in Weightmania (software) too so could track everything precisely.

most people seem to have at least one cheat meal a week from the people i've spoken with but my nutritionist is saying NO WAY. So i'm trying fight the urge and stay the course. I'm logging everything now:)

Always did one cheat meal during the 12 weeks

Worldspan

Depends on your progress and where you're at in your prep.
I use them A LOT with my clients.

one cheat meal will lead to two ... 6 down, 10 to go ... while someone else is eating mcdonalds you're pounding down 12 egg whites ... thats the difference between a winner and a loser

in my opinion its actually this type of thinking that can hold you back. i agree with !berserker.

Some one please correct me if I am wrong. From what I understand the purpose of the cheat meal is to help restore Letpin levels in the brain. Leptin signals the brain the body is in a "Fed" state. When one's body fat becomes lower and lower on into the single digits the levels of Leptin are severely deplenished in the brain slowing down the metabolism.

to add to my earlier post, I didn't do a cheat meal this last go around but I do believe that a cheat meal can stimulate the good old metabolism when it's shut down from a long period of dieting.

Case in point reflecting on my past experience.....started dieitng at 220ish wanting to get to MW. Weight really stalled at around 188-192 and ended up at the WRONG place for Jr's at 182. That's not a great place to be for that show. Hmm big MW or smallest LH. :(

In hindsight, probably needed a couple cheat meals and days off of cardio/training to reactivate my body. I also noticed I was cold in the evenings a lot which is an obvious sign of not burning fat IMO.

yea, sort of, but just think of it as eating an extra 500 calories to burn additional calories (500+) due to the metabolism continually cranking

This is helpful information for me and it's appreciated very much. I think I might give a cheat meal a go and wolf down some sushi, steak and baked potato this weekend and then try and forget about cheating for another 4 weeks or so. If there is a significant weight loss next week following this cheat meal I'll post the results. Everyone's body is totally different and mine is telling me EAT. It's not so bad till about 3pm....on the flip side; I guess it might be that after 3PM and feeling like that would be a sign that I'm on the road to leaning out more and more which is appealing.

I don't get any cheat meals before a competition. I've gone as long as 12 wks.

I admire your discipline. Dieting is without a doubt the hardest thing about bodybuilding.

Not sure but I'd try and see what others would recommend for a CHEAT meal. That doesn't quite sound like the right mix of food. (not enough calories)

I'm not a bodybuilder, but in one's contest diet isn't "junk food" part of a carb up day and not considered a cheat meal? When I think cheat meal, I think of a pizza in the middle of the day cause you like the way it smells ... restoring letpin or w/e seems like part of the diet no?

Your metablism would determine if you could get away with this and how fast you are getting into condition. I don't believe in cheating but thats just me. Maybe a higher carb day would be my "cheat" day. An extra cup of rice or more steak is just the thing to satisfy me but thats just me.

Cheat meals should be set on an individual basis only. With a good partner, trainer, educated eye observing and making that decision for you ensures a wiser choice more often than not. Everyone is different though. My personal experiences, I've done better with no real cheat meals, but clean depleting/loading. If I'm given an inch, I'm taking a mile. Just me though, as I said everyones diff.
