NPC competitors/Judges

I know they´re are a lot of guys here who compete at the national level or so in the NPC, and I was wondering if you could help me out. I recently moved from the U.S. to Brazil, where my wife is from to open a gym. I have become good friends with a guy here who won the Sao Paulo championships and took the heavyweight class in the South American Championships (it is the NABBA here). He is 25, and his dream is to turn pro and seems possible, but he does not know anything about competing in the U.S. and would like to do so.

Not being from the U.S. is he eligible to join the NPC and compete in the U.S. and at the Nationals level or Jr. Nationals having won some significant championships in South America?

NPC national level events

I believe that you have to be a US citizen to be eligible to turn pro at one of the national level events. However I think that your friend can compete in the North American since they allow foreign athletes in the events (Mexico and Canada) . I know that there are several international competitors that take part in the Arnold Amature as well.
If your friend wants to become an ifbb professional he may have to travel back to South America and compete in the South American Championships or whatever show that hemisphere that offers a pro card.
Here is the list of the NPC district chairpersons If you contact the district chair of the state where you reside he or she may be able to give you more details.

NPC is NOT an option for someone who is not a US citizen, and the IFBB North Americans contest is limited to Canada, US, and Mexico.

His best bet is to stay with NAABA, there is a US branch and a Universe qualifier is held here too. http://www.nabba.com/
