When you lift...do you all say for instance on chest....do you start with 45 plates and each side then put another 45...or do you like start with 2 45's then next set add the 2.5 then after the next set add 2.5...or how do you do with your weights...cause in benching I'll start with a 45 25..then 2.5...then next set I'll do 45 25 5 then following set add the 2.5....is that right or should I do 45 on each side then 45 25 then put the 2 45 plates on each side..Help me out guys.

warming up

Bro warming up is very important..so no matter what I start out with two sets of doing a plate on each side..but even before all that I do about 10min cardio to get the blood pumping..There's a lot of guys that get injured due to not warming up..and now i'm hitting 24 w/out any major injuries..than I move on to my 2 plates..and than get up to 2 & a quarter and my other sets..

If bench is my first exercise than I dont' warm up with other exercises. If for example I'm doing incline first ..i'll do warm up sets with that..and then let's say if I'm doing bench next I'll just jump to 2 plates and rep it out.

Hope that helps.

im a semi big bencher man and i start with the bar and stretch, then one plate for a million, lol, then 2-3-4-5-etc
warmups are VERY important

frk

I always warm up with 2 sets of the bar for a few then a set of a plate for 6 then another for a fast triple to get the motor neurons firing and do a bunch of stretching in between. Then 2, 3, 4+... ill leave the 5, 6, ect to FRKNHUGE, goddam bro whadyou bench!?

So, what do you all do when you bench....like how much weight do you start out with on your first set then how much on your second..say this week you do 2 plates on each side on your first set...then next week what would you start out with on your first set?

As you get older, or more worn with injuries, you need to warm up more.
I do a set with the bar, one with 25s, 2-3 with 45s. Just for low reps (so your not worn out by the time you go heavy) and start to get some explosiveness in the last 1-2 warmups to get ready for the heavy stuff.

SO since I can do 4 reps with 2 45 plaes on each side...how should or what should I start out with?

Start out with the bar, for a few then a plate for a few, then a plate and quarters for a near max set, then slap on another plate and go for max reps. If you get 4, put on some 5's on each side and try 4 more, if you get it this will be your 4 reps max for next week. So it'd look like this:
1- warm-up: bar x10 x2
2- warm-up: 135 x5 fast explosive reps
3- 185 xnear failure set (maybe 2-3 reps short of failure)
4- 225 x4 (failure)
5- 235 x4 (if you get it, its next week's 4th set)

Then the next chest exercise do you still use all those warmups or just jump right into the working set....and how many sets should be done?
