You Damn right ! It saved mine.

I'll try to make this as short as I can. This is important information on
bacteria infections.
I live near the chesapeake bay here in Maryland. Sad part is the bay
and rivers are so polluted with sewege spills and over development
that bacteria levels are high. About a month and a half ago I was repairng
this sea wall and all of a sudden my wrist swelled up red like a beet.
Couldn't figure what happened. Two infections developed on both arms. A week later a knot formed behind my ear that opened up into
a hole about the size of a quarter. That night I got a fever and blurred vision with pains in my bladder. (couldn't pee). Drove myself to the ER and
after explaining my symptoms they ran me back and hooked up an IV
bag of antibiotics. They took blood and a few hours later I heard the nurse
tell someone , The infection is in his blood stream and we're transporting him to critical. OMG ! I thought about my 9 year daughter and thinking I'll
never seeing her grow up. It took 3 bags a day for 6 days just to get the
infection down.
Doctor told me I had a Staph ( a flesh eating bacteria) and beings it was on my head it came close to penetrating the skull and had entered my blood stream. He also said that IF IT WASN'T FOR YOUR SIZE AND CONDITION THE OUT COME WOULD HAVE BEEN A LITTLE DIFFERENT. Weight training play an important part of my life. You damn right........

Damn bro, hope you're doing better. One day I was in a head on collision on probably the busiest street in Phoenix, wasnt wearing my seatbelt, and my head hit the winshield so hard it completely destroyed the entire winshield, not just part of it! I had a concussion and whiplash, which sucked, however when I was x-ray'd the Dr. came in and told me that due to my 'thick musculature' in my overall shoulders, neck and back, that 90% of the average population would have broke their neck no question about it! And that I was extremely lucky to be walking! Guess the strength and thickness of the muscle came into play and helped save my life, or at least I can still walk just fine:) BTW I was on my way to the gym, and the first thought that came to me was 'shit Im gonna miss my workout!' :D

all i got from it was a sprained ankle

as i saw the tree coming at me i literally thought to myself... "flex"

Wow!

How are you doing now?
So far so good. Little weak but still kickin. Problem is Staph infections
are now building resistance to alot of antibiotics so they had me on one
of the strongest, think it was Vancocin. Thanks for asking....

Thanks. Yep it's a nasty SOB. A class mate of mine died from having it
in her lungs. Doctor told me that even if the sores heal it could pop up
any where including your organs. Only strong antibiotics will get rid of
it.

I hit a car years ago, went threw the windshield and almost lost my left
eye. But I don't think body building would of saved me on that one.:)

cool story. glad you are ok. a friend i grew up with got shot in the gut with a smaller cal handgun, and even though he lost about 35 lbs, and never gained it back, he was still pretty good sized at 195, (we were only 19 or so), and always credited his previous size with saving his life, after the gunshot.

Thanks again guys. Two of my brothers had it from that damn stinking water
around here, Not as bad but one had a large hole on his hip that went
to the bone, and the other had the same on his shoulder. I don't know
how many people have seen this type of infection but I promise you'll never
forget it.
