Straying from diet when Sick :-(

I've been doing really good with my diet and have been leaning out really well.

Been meticulous with the diet. Doing cardio every day. Been really happy with how things were shaping up. Getting stronger while getting leaner and have been having some really good workouts.

I have been sick with strep throat since Wednesday. Had a 102.4 fever at the doctor's office. He gave me 2 antibiotics and pain pill for my throat.

Have not been lifting which is ok. But every single meal I eat ends up having icecream, pizza, or some type of treat in it. Where I normally just eat healthy measured out meals and don't give any thought to other foods the last couple days, I can not falthom the idea of having "1 meal" which resembles my typical diet. I've been deliberately keeping my shirt out when i go past the mirror so I don't see my "smoothness".

I'm not sure if it is the anti-biotics or just being sick but any by stander would think that I am deliberately trying to ruin myself. :eek:

wow lol. that's pretty bad. its just flesh man.

But, you're probably craving carbs due to antibiotic. Some antibiotics effect blood sugar. They usually lower blood sugar... Just a side note, if you're on Keflex you may want to ask your doc about an alternative. Keflex can cause tendon rupture and permanent tendon damage. Good luck
 
I get like that too. Sometimes I think its the body's way of telling us what it needs. Perhaps more fat intake is needed to power the immune system? Anyhow, just a few days isnt going to ruin you. It is so frustrating though to go through it. Did you look back at your training and diet, perhaps you were getting overtrained and that helped lower your immune system and aided in you picking up the strep? Chances are though it was just bad luck.

I know I used to get sick a lot though when I was getting off of a cycle and into PCT. Always trouble there.

Thats kind of how I feel. Like my body needs the food. Although I'm definately over indulging. Its really emberassing actually. I had Icecream with breakfast. Pizza and icecream with lunch. Then 5 chocolate puddings while I watched Spartacus. Pizza and yogurt with chicken just now. Not too good. :(

I don't think I was overtraining. LIke I said, I've been having some really good workouts. The only two things I could think of is that its been getting warm out and I haven't been wearing a jacket sometimes when I should be and my gym is overly crowded and most people sanitize the weight equipment and cardio machines before they get on them and I never do this. I've even turned people down who offered to clean the cardio machine handles after they got off and I tell them not to worry about it b/c I don't want to wait. pretty stupid right. I'm actually pretty hygenic but those thoughts aren't in my mind at all when i'm lifting weights. :(

Just worry about your health. Eat balanced, drink lots of fluids, and get lots of rest. You will rebound back into diet mode after you recover. The break can be healthy.

Well, I know in our area strep has been going around. Not sure if its nationwide, but it has hit our area in the past month.
 
You cant diet when your sick> The thought of chicken with some rice and evoo would make me puke if i was sick. You dont want to eat a bunch of crap either like Mcdonalds,etc..Plus you cant get fat when sick. I already posted about it. Metabolism is working too hard to fight off the cause.

I sure hope you are right!! hahaha

maybe I will have that piece of coconut cream pie in the frig :)
 
Just get well and drink a ton of fluid. When im sick, solid food makes me wanna puke but i can eat soup all day. And if you make your own soup with chicken, shrimp, or fish, you can make it with less sodium and still get your protein and you also get fluids to help you recover.

I have strep throat right now... yesterday my gf brought me taco bell and lastnight my sons mom brought me kfc.. yes I totally went off my diet but I dont care.. today I had mexican food for lunch.. tomorrow i will get back on point with my diet... I have been drinking lots of water and doing nothing but resting.. I feel so much better today..

Looking forward to being well soon and hitting the gym and back on track with my chicken,tune,rice,oatmeal... etc

I've been sick with strep for the past 5 days...still not better yet either. I can't even imagine trying to choke down dry chicken and oats while I have pain just drinking milk...My diet has been beyond horrid for the past few days. Its hard to eat food that doesn't give you any pleasure in the first place if it slices, stabs, and cuts your throat as you eat it.

LOL. I think many people share the same experience. Did you exerecise at all during the time? Usually when Im sick I dont exercise at all either. WHen I was young I used to force myself but it just made me sicker and the illness took longer to get over.
 
it something about the season. this week about 80% of the people i know, including myself came down with something. for me it was just a soar throat, head cold, and congested nose. you know what your doing, and this break is nothing you cant overcome when its over.
 
I always up my Gh and peptides when sick as well. Usually i just run about 4iu's GH per day with 200mcg ghrp6 pre bed but when sick i'll take 200mcg ghrp6 followed by 3iu's GH 3x per day. Sometimes i'll add a little clen/t3 as well. All that stuff is fast acting so even if your down for a week and have aas in your system and your sleeping and eating like shit its not gonna turn to fat.
