So like the title says, what would YOU change about bodybuilding? The sport, the image, the rules, the presentation, judging, anything.
 
Internet boards, tools who use drugs with no hope of competing, drug use in general, misinformation that spreads like wildfire, internet boards, most people looking for drugs and advice on internet boards...oh, and internet boards.
 
like dad posted, brologic and the use of drugs for people who want to be a top bodybuilder without the genetics so they keep using more and more substances thinking it is what will make them a top bbder
 
Height Classes

I would like to see the NPC go to height classes instead of weight classes. I think it would give a better gage to what is being judged.
 
Height Classes is good.
I'd love to see symmetry weighted much higher in the scoring.

GH Gut and freaky yet unbalanced physiques need to score much lower than they have in recent years.
 
Robot's reply suits me. One thing I would change about bodybuilding would be the use of soooo many drugs. This will never happen, but I don't understand why people gotta take a cycle about 16 items long. What about just test and deca?

It's been said 1000 times, but look at the bodybuilders from the 60's and 70's.
Muscular, aesthetic physiques. Not GH guts and enlarged heads and organs. Yes these guys train just as hard if not harder as older bodybuilder's but at which point do you stop and think "I'm 300 lbs, 7% bodyfat and 20% chemicals. This does not suit me. Let's get back to the basics and keep this sport reasonable, it's not a contest of who can take the most extreme cycle and still live.
 
I would love to see the height classes also instead of by weight. As well as aesthetics earning higher. I think it would be cool for the olympia or arnold to have fans also fill out ballots and vote for a "fan favorite" maybe?
 
i would like to see it drift back to the old days where guys had the tight waists and had bodies that were actually desirable i dont want to look like any of the guys on stage today i strive to look like arnold and zane did

the height class is a interesting idea would be interesting for me being 6'6 i would be the only one in my class
 
WELL.. I AM A MASS FREAK.. i want to be wowed.. i dont want to see zane posing to "wind beneath my wings".. the great thing about bodybuilding is that it can be what ever you want it to be.. if you desire to look like zane.. so be it.. if you want to look like ruhl (good luck) but strive for it.. but, mass sells or it would not be rewarded..

as far as drugs go.. i dont care if people want to use gear to have a better body.. .. but, realize this.. when you dont have the genes for this game and you try to make up for it by abusing these compounds with massive dosages year after year.. and to top it off you get no blood work and wont address the side effect ect.. then you end up in the hospital and have the balls to come on message boards with silly posts like "THIS IS HOW STEROIDS ALMOST KILLED ME" :rolleyes: I WANT TO BEAT YA WITH A BOARD..!! look guys.. you did it to yourself.. you tried to make up for your genetics and were stupid in the process.. gear did nothing to you.. bad judgement did.. and you brought unwanted attention to those who are being responsible..:mad: (this is not about this baord.. we have the most responible guys i have seen.. if any of them have a story listen.. but some of the others.. omg)

so what would i change?.. well.. every post that that is about "what steroids did to me" b.s. would have to be filtered by mods and those who know and the facts would have to be brought out to them first.. then we would tell ya how ya screwed up and the post would have to start "THIS IS HOW I SCREWED UP"... admit your errors instead of blaming the gear 100% for what has happened.. with the internet we see this constantly and we wonder why we are judged harshly by the general public and press.. we are our own worst enemies..

and last but not least.. HOW ABOUT SOME TRAINING QUESTIONS!!!!!! i wrote a piece here a few years ago entitled "HAVE WE LOST THE ART OF TRAINING?" look it up.. learn how to train.. dont think that gear will make up for bad training principals.. eventually they will come back to bite ya.. lear about training!!! the gear only is there to help recup.. if you train like crap and use a ton of gear will you gain muscle??? sure.. but, not near as much a a sound program that avoids overtraining and using small amounts of gear to aid recuperation.. you would be surprised how little gear you need to get big if the training is sound...;)

i have a small beef with internet boards too. the "bro science" can be irritating or comical as long as its not dangerous. but the thing that gets to me is the nonchalant way some people talk about steroids and other drugs on some internet boards and the lack of knowledge of the risks. everyone should know gh and steroids can enlarge your heart, screw up your lipids, increase blood pressure, increase risk for clots(which can lead to heart attacks and strokes), even 150mg testosterone/week can increase hematocrit/hemoglobin to unsafe levels. clen, t3, ephedra are all horrible for your cardiovascular system. dnp just sounds like hell. but a lot of people don't know these risks... then you have guys that come to internet boards for medical advice. "my bp is 180/100. i don't want to stop cycle. what herb can i take to lower it?" "how long can i stay on 2g/week tren for safely?" and on and on...

but the sport is what it is. some sports are dangerous. a football player can go out and break his neck. rock climbers, car/motorcycle racers, extreme sports, skiiers, mountainclimbers, base jumpers, etc. these are all dangerous sports. bb(not natural) is the only sport i can think of that has a risk that comes from drugs that are 100% necessary to compete

I agree with Lats here.... but as for as bodybuilding forums like this one i would change it back to the good ol days... 98-99. Back then not any Tom Dick or Harry could source. You had to be in the circle of trust to source.
No one seemed "spolied" like most people are now. I mean, when a 3 day turnaround turns into 4 or 5 days guys kept there mouth shut and waited. Now a days its 5 minutes past 12am on the 3rd day and they are off to post openly about getting scammed. Jesus.
Also like someone said before... the cycles and drugs being used now are fucking crazy. What happened to just popping some test and another drug like dbol or anadrol or deca and being happy? Now it takes a bro 3 hours just to post his cycle.... i do not see how in the hell some guys dont leak from so many pin holes weekly. I would change it back to just good ol roids. Away with GH... away with IGF1 and away with Insulin.
I know alot of people love those compounds but i really thing we are going to see alot of deaths from the abuse of these things without people really knowing the long term effects.
Also the government and its drug laws. I wouldnt make steroids legal but i would move them back to just being a slap on the wrist like it was before ol daddy Bush ruined it for us... then along came Jr and messed it up even more.
Oh and while we are at it... i would take all womens bodybuilding out. Its just my personal opinion but i hate a woman that is jacked up and looks just like a man with a bikini top on. Women should stick to being beautiful like God intended... and just do fitness competitions.
I can go on and on... but those are some of the basics.

LATS, nascar is exactly what i was thinking of when i said car racing.

i don't know how i missed this... YES, that would be one of the most important changes to bb. legalize them. put a surgeon general warning on it. let it be regulated to make sure product is safe. no need for people to go to jail or even pay a fine for using drugs imo. its their own business.
 
Like everyone has said the amount of drugs.I hate that slin,dnp,lasiks,nubain etc.. have become part of the sport.
Like JJ said womans bodybuilding at the top level in my opinion has become a freak show.I like the Cory Everson look personally.
And last the internet boards,people not even competing doing 3 grams a week of exotic compounds.Then to top it off you see a pic and they don't even look like they train.The internet and forums are a catch22 as they educate and grant access to the in and outs of the sport.They grant access to the ins and outs of the sport to the wrong people not ready for some of the imformation.To be honost I'm kind of glad the internet wasn't around when i was a young man.I was nieve enough to believe training my ass off and I was grossly overtrained would get me where i wanted to be.I have no regrets as I definately learned to train first.Diet wasn't always so good but i eventually learned.

I wouldn't change much at all.

I prefer an aesthetic physique most of the time, but I still love to see a mass monster when the genetics are right (i.e. Ronnie Coleman).

As for the boards..... well the idiots are always going to be around and there are only so many mods to keep things in check. However, that being said, this board has been invaluable to me. I love it. You get the best of both worlds because we have people keeping things simple and effective (Big A, Phil, and B-Boy off the top of my head), and we have people like Dat who dive in so deep that without a PhD your head can spin (though he takes the time to explain it and for that I think we are all grateful).

I think my first post ever here was something stupid (maybe I asked about an oral only winny cycle). Vets (i think Oldfella) set me straight and I have still not touched an AAS to date. I started training harder but half as frequently and the rest has worked wonders.

While I understand the vets and mods get pissed about the idiots, I just keep in mind how many cool dudes post on here daily. So what if some people are only concerned with drugs? If they insist on shooting themselves in the foot after you tell them they are holding a loaded gun then so be it.

So yea.... I guess I wouldn't change much at all. I like bodybuilding and I like it here.
 
I would change the whole dieting aspectof it! Wish i could just eat pizza everyday and be lean! lol:D
