Between July 19, 2005 and November 19, 2005, many of you partook in an online survey of anabolic steroid users. To refresh your memory, the lengthy survey assessed several areas such as demographics, positive and negative physical and psychological side effects, abuse potential and diet.
Rick Collins, Jack Darkes, Dan Gwartney and I (Jay Cohen) have been thunderstruck and grateful by the overwhelming positive response and results from the initial analysis. As a result of the positive reception and your candor, as well as your feedback, the ongoing process has been most enjoyable and productive. As you know, the data is being compiled and analyzed for submission to peer-reviewed journals for publication. Unfortunately this process hinders what can be disclosed about the results prior to publication.
We want to express our gratitude to all those who participated by taking the survey and/or spreading the word. Beyond the 2,600+ who completed the survey, we were pleasingly shocked by the willingness of individuals who promoted the research, many times on their own merit; board members, Mods, board owners and the like. This simply reinforces to us that, as Rick proved, we all see the importance in objective education.
As promised and owed, we will keep everyone posted on the ongoing progress. As from the beginning, your inquiries are very much welcomed. I can be contacted by emailing [email protected]. Please put “AAS survey” in the subject line. You are also encouraged to post questions, feedback, or criticisms here. This will allow for the continued sharing of information, which is in accord with the spirit of the boards and scientific endeavors.
