been thinking about this a lot lately as I know a lot of guys that were once freaky monsters including a former Mr.World, and they all have had hip replacements. It makes me think its from the gym.

Anyone have any input on this?
I'm wondering what exercises are going to put one at more risk of damaging their hips

Squats, leg presses, olympic style lifts all place a lot of strain on the hips. Best thing you can do is strengthen your hip flexors and try not to overuse your hips. Easier said than done.

so any type of squatting or leg press well hell that's shitty
what do you think is the lesser or the two evils then?

Don't squat or leg press too wide. Also make sure your mobility and flexibility is good

What big name guys have gotten hip replacements?? just wondering.

not all pros. Just one that's a buddy. Others were just big ody builders.
not sure bout listing his name, but he was a 2 time mr world in the 80's.
Not really the point though. Just saying everyone I have known that's big like that has had a hip replacement. It kinda makes me nervous since I really don't wanna have to experience that

Good question. As long as you don't go too deep on leg presses it won't put too much stress on the hips or lower back. Honestly, you would put more stress on your hips doing hip rotation movements or exercises like golf or baseball.

Serge Nubret had his hips replaced. He never deadlifted but was known to do lots and lots of squats.
